Timber Framing & Land Based Structures
All structures created with materials gathered from a kilometre radius…
We are passionate about learning & sharing skills that empower people to create their own dwellings. In a world where access to land & basic housing has been denied to large segments of the population, having the ability to create one’s own dwelling is another way to create sovereignty & security. After learning log building & timber framing skills on Gabriola lsland BC, Olivier has worked to create the many structures that make life in the remote boreal forests possible year round. Many individuals have participated in these projects, some through the Wwoof Canada program, each person bringing their own set of skills to the table, with opportunities to learn on both sides of the relationship.
Past and current projects include: The main cabin, guest cabin, smokehouse, warehouse, earth oven, greenhouse, ice house, sled dog housing, & a few loos! Future projects will likely include a root cellar, pottery kiln, sauna, wood fired tub, & tree house. If any of these projects timber, earth, or masonry projects interest you, please get in touch with us via our profile on Wwoof Canada! From time to time there may be woodcraft products available, such as birchwood knitting needles, crochet hooks, spindles, fibre arts supplies, kitchen utensils, along with whatever new skills we hope to develop.
